Have you ever looked in the mirror, and picked out every little insecurity, trying to determine how to change it?
Have you ever thought to yourself, I need to eat healthier or exercise more so that I will look like the Instagram models on my feed every day?
Checked your fitness tracker and felt guilty that you did not “burn enough calories”, “get enough steps in”, “close your rings”?
Felt guilty for eating “cheat foods” or skipping a workout?
Been in conversations with friends or family where the focus was on physical appearances, and the self-worth equated to them?
Well so have we.
The unfortunate truth is that the majority of people have felt this way, or continue to feel this way every day. With the ever-growing effects of social media, photo filters and retouching, and the unrealistic beauty standards of today's society, it is no wonder people want to change themselves.
And fitness companies are no help! The majority of fitness/diet companies prey on the insecurities of people and convince their customers that in order to be fit, healthy, or love themselves, they must look a certain way, which usually means tall, thin, and blemish-free.
But that's not true, because that's not real.
Real bodies jiggle when they move.
Real bodies have scars and marks that tell stories of a person's life and the journey their body has been through.
Real people don’t exercise every single day or eat gourmet, organic meals all the time.
Real bodies do not all look the same, and health can not be defined by one shape or size.
Real is different, and different is what makes people SHINE.
What is SHINE?
SHINE is a company that was founded by a 21-year-old named Jess Takimoto, who just like you, has been there. Jess has been down the rabbit hole that is toxic fitness culture. She has counted those calories, tracked her food and exercise, taken those transformation pictures. Jess has been there, and she will never return.
She developed SHINE with the mission of redefining what it means to be a fitness company, and what it means to exercise.
At SHINE we move our bodies because we love ourselves, and we want to celebrate our bodies and all they can do. Our focus is on developing participants' self-confidence, and strength, through choreographed group fitness classes, that challenge you to work hard, have fun, and become 1% better every single day.
For SHINE participants it does not matter how many burpees or tucks you did in class. All fitness levels are welcome and embraced. All that matters is that you showed up, and felt proud of yourself.

SHINE is not only a company. We are a community.
And the great thing about community is that there is always room for more.
